John is 28 years old, holds a 25 GT master U.S.C.G. captains license, is a certified advanced open water diver with deep diver, underwater hunter, search and recovery, dive supervisor and nitrox endorsements, and has been fishing and diving the waters of the Gulf Of Mexico (since he was 11 years old) and has been guiding for several years now.
In years past, John has worked for guides and charter boats ranging from commercial fishing vessels to exclusive live aboard dive boats from Tarpon Springs to the Dry Tortugas and over to the Bahamas, in captain, first mate and deck hand positions. With this experience under his belt, John realized he could be a very successful inshore/nearshore/offshore guide on his own. With that decision made, it has been a very productive and growing career, and John plans to continue until retiring!.
Achievements never cease, from tournaments to charters, there's never a dull moment! John's boat is a 2003 Marauder Marine Avenger 24, which is a very fast and an extremely safe vessel, that has a totally dry ride, capable of 12 inches of water or 45 miles offshore, powered by a 2003 Mercury 225 OptiMax Outboard.
The boat is equipped with Lowrances' latest technology DWGPS, a fish finder, chart plotter, navigational combo unit, VHF radio, cell phone and the finest tackle available - currently Shimano reels and G-Loomis rods.
John has a motor bracket that is hydraulically operated to give the motor 16 inches of vertical lift. This gives the EXTREMELY shallow draft Avenger, propeller clearance to navigate through the shallow areas which are pristine and prime for the species fished for.
